1. Background.
This forum was initiated by Prof. Alfons
Kather of TUHH when he raised the issue with IEAGHG
of not being able to accommodate young researchers to
attend valuable meetings during the 1st Oxy-Combustion
Workshop due to over-subscription.
In response, IEA Greenhouse Gas R&D
Programme supported the initiative of TUHH to organise
a separate forum to provide young researchers in the
field of oxy-combustion the opportunity to develop it
own network.
One of the key objectives of this forum
is to provide an opportunity to young researchers who
are working on the field of Oxy-Combustion to meet each
other, to present their work, to share their experience
and to communicate, identify and discuss various issues
that they have encountered during their course of their
work.
In parallel, this activity is envisioned
to support the future development of various greenhouse
gas mitigation technology by recognising the fact that
there are new challenges facing the power generation
industry in educating and training our future engineers
– as such, it could be said that this forum can
be used by our young researchers as a vehicle to develop
their future expertise.
On a trial basis, this mini-workshop
was organised by invitation only to various European
participants due to some logistic constraints. However,
in the future, this could be used as a starting point
to develop other young researcher network.
